What is Footprints for Peace?
Footprints for Peace is a global community of friends who are dedicated to creating change through peaceful action.
We organize events throughout the world that bring together in solidarity a moving community to deepen our understanding of spiritual, cultural and environmental issues.
Our aim is to educate, inspire, and empower individuals and communities in building a sustainable future.
WHO ARE WE?
Footprints for Peace was born from the participation of many Native American Sacred Runs and Walks from 1992. The message that we still carry with us today taught from these runs and walks is: All Life is Sacred, Protect Mother Earth. After the 2005 Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty walk, Footprints grew into what we are today – a strong global community of friends that organise events to create a better world.
The events bring people together from all over the world to walk, run or bike ride from community to community as an effective way to educate ourselves and the public on different environmental, political, social and cultural issues.
All our events are guided by Footprints for Peace statement of non-violence and are drug and alcohol free.
Footprints for Peace aims to inspire, empower and mobilise people to take action and express their opinions not only through walking, running or bike riding but also through creative campaigning in street theatre, music, art, public meetings, petitioning, letter writing and non violent direct actions.
We hold public meetings and workshops; publish newsletters and other publications informing and educating the public to encourage public involvement concerning environmental, political, social and cultural issues.
WHATS WALK FOR A NUCLEAR FREE FUTURE?
The Walk for a Nuclear Free Future campaign initiated by Footprints for Peace is a grassroots awareness raising campaign involving a series of walks throughout Australia, Canada, United States & Japan. The walks will follow the deadly nuclear fuel path from uranium mines to nuclear reactors, waste dumps and nuclear weapons sites.

complete nuclear weapons disarmament
responsible solutions to nuclear waste
full rehabilitation of abandoned uranium mines and all nuclear facilities
development and use of renewable energy technology
We are committed to creating exciting, non-violent, diverse and open walks for people to experience living in a moving cultural diverse community.
Our walks will range from 1 month to 6 months, walking on average 15 miles/ 25 kilometers a day.
In every town and city we walk through we will hand out information flyers on creating a nuclear free future. We will be holding public meetings at every available opportunity and will use our walks to create media to highlight the dangers and threat of the whole nuclear fuel chain.
WALKING IN THE SPIRIT OF FOOTPRINTS
Footprints for Peace events will function as a collective from the beginning. People of all ages, backgrounds and cultures will come together to walk the land and live in community sharing responsibilities – an exciting opportunity to be involved.
Through-out the event there will be regular circles to share information and attempt to exercise non hierarchy system to make decisions on a consensus-driven basis. However we are aware of rest being essential on these events and may have to use another method.
